Time is the currency of life, it is designed to be spent, and only the prudent can save it.

It is essential to recognise that no one exists outside of time, except God – the Ancient of Days, the Everlasting Father, and the Eternal One. Our lives are governed by the creator’s blueprint, which dictates that energy, motivation, and progress are fuelled by our hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Without this, life loses its value and purpose. Our experiences shape our perceptions, mould our identity, and reset our approach to life.

Loss of hope, fading of dreams, and abandonment of aspirations are common occurrences. Some people may face obstacles from the very beginning: poverty, lack of education, and poor health have hindered their ambitions. Others may have encountered setbacks during their journey – a wrong friend, spouse, associate, or coach/mentor may have derailed their progress, leaving a wound that is difficult to heal. Finally, some may have experienced a negative turn in events due to a mistake or missed opportunity.

The vast majority of individuals would not boast of having a flawless start. However, even those who are fortunate enough to avoid a problematic beginning eventually face a mid-journey storm that aims to steer them from their desired destination. During this turbulent period, we are confronted with errors, obstacles, laziness, carelessness, and other challenges that test our resolve. Unfortunately, we often lose control and struggle to navigate the rough waters.

However, the time is ticking, and the currency is becoming exhausted. What do we do? It is crucial for us to draw upon both our past experiences and present insights to inform future decisions.

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom” Psalm 90:12

Focusing too much on past hardships or exploits can put the future at risk. However, the One who holds the entire world in His hands has the power to transform our struggles into triumph. By humbly asking for His help, we can overcome any chaos and still achieve our dreams. Even when we feel lost or far from childhood aspirations, hope should never be forgotten. With faith in Him, we can trust that He will guide us and mould us into the person we are meant to be (Jer. 18:4 ).
